Need both Thymleaf attribute AND HTML attributes defined on elements?

nate@foundrymakes.com
I see a lot of examples on Thymeleaf's docs that contain elements with both a "th:*" attribute and the standard HTML attributes:

   <a href="/some/url" th:href="/some/url">link text</a>

Why have the HTML attribute specified if it's just ignored by thymeleaf?
